The consequence of Depleting Underground Water Aquifer

The consequence of Depleting Underground Water Aquifer is collapse of landscape in ……. and desertification in ….. Nigeria has 37 billion barrels of oil 192 trillion cubic feet of gas. Has anybody thought of future consequences of depleting those reserves through drilling. According to NNPC, Nigeria produces 2.5 million barrels per day. It is Africa’s largest producer and 6th largest in the world

Why is it that despite Nigeria’s 37 billion barrels of oil and 192 trillion cubit feed gas, Nigeria still imports petrol and is currently the largest importer of Premium Motor Spirit.  Why is it that Nigeria’s refineries at Port Harcourt and Warri, Kaduna are not working to capacity and rather than fix these refineries Nigeria is helping Niger Republic to set up her refinery and contract pipes from Niger Republic to Kano?

We import one million Tones of PMS every months – Dr Markanti Baru Group MD of NNPC.

Nigeria is engaging investor and other stakeholders to upgrade refineries from the current plate capacity of 445000 barrels of crude oil per day to at least one million. If so why support Refinery at Niger Republic?
